It is defined as mucosal erosions equal to or greater than 0.5 cm. Ulcers can also be caused or worsened by drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and other NSAIDs. Heliobacter pylori is a gram-negative spiral bacterium that causes gastritis and pyloric ulcers in humans; a history of H. pylori infection is associated with gastric carcinoma; Formerly called Campylobacter pylori.
