Sebaceous cyst a benign retention cyst of a sebaceous gland containing the fatty secretion of the gland; this may occur anywhere on the body except the palms of the hands and soles of the feet, although such cysts are most common on the scalp, back, and scrotum. It may be a source of irritation or infection, and should be excised by a health care worker. Called also wen.
